Monday, May 14, 2012 Dear Patti, One morning, a grandmother greets me happily but with tears falling down in her eyes. She laughed but continued crying. I was surprised! And why? Then she relate to me about her grandson who was about nine years old. That grandson could not talk nor could not walk for nine years. She reminded me that she asked me for a bottle of Saint Philomena oil with a cord to send to her daughter in Manila who was the mother of that grandson. She was very happy because when she visited her daughter with a son who could not walk at that time. As she arrived there, she saw her grandson run to her and greet her happily, she could not believe it! But she saw with her two eyes that her grandson could walk already. As she said "nothing is refused!", "thanks to Saint Philomena!" she hugged her grandson and dance with him happily. Hail to Saint Philomena! Go for the triumph! Carmelita G. Thursday, May 3, 2012 Dear Patti, I am back in Kampala from Kumi, Eastern Uganda, where I have been following up the ULRA progress with Cornelia, the widow of the late Lawrence Esiangu! The primary purpose of my visit was to encourage, strengthen and direct the members so they do not lose hope in the ULRA office to continue to serve the community after the death of our Representative! We have laid out strategies towards maintenance and improvement of the office and dispelled any speculations towards the closure of the office! I have been much humbled by a retired educationist, who having been assured of the ULRA continuity, shed manly tears in appreciation! Like the majority in Eastern Uganda, he had been worried for the rare library with unique books (not found anywhere even in Catholic bookshops) that built his strong spirituality! This is what I have found in Cornelia; she is meticulous and principled! I am happy by comments about her honesty in organizing women’s leadership at the local parish! We have spent the last few days laying out strategies to decrease and eliminate the rampant conmen, self-centered and looking for possible chances to rob our sacramentals. Some had used the time to bring in filled lists with hundreds of names from villagers in order to get sacramentals and sell them! We have to locate many books that were rented out by the late Lawrence Esiangu, which never returned! Some will get lost; however, some honest members are returning them! I will be obliged to visit the office as need demands, every two weeks, unless on a distant mission. Cornelia’s womanly energy in the demanding teaching profession gives her no time to work out the rest of wider Eastern Uganda. We have arranged that I will do all this. She is keen to honor the wish of her late husband: “Keep the library running, so that people continue to freely learn the basics of our precious Catholic Faith!” May Saint Joseph intercede for us! Tuesday, May 1, 2012 Dear Patti, It is me, Sr. Jacintha from Uganda, greeting you in the Name of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. I wish you God’s blessings during this Lenten Season, though you will get this letter when the Season is over. You will be surprised that I have written soon after sending my letter in January. The main reason is that I am requesting for Decade registration numbers. As of now, the ones I had received are over, yet I have a list of about 100 new members from our school to be enrolled. In all, there are 145 but I could register only 40 and sent you the list, though these students did not get any Sacramental as they were already finished. The students will be happy to receive their packet of Sacramentals. I do have a stock of the Decade cards. The Lord, through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary and Saint Philomena, is doing His work. I cannot fail to proclaim a miracle being done in my life. You cannot imagine that I was confined in a wheel chair but, now, I can stand and walk with an elbow crutch. Your prayers and the holy oil and cord of St. Philomena are working wonders. Though I still have paralysis of some parts and the unevenly distributed sensations but, at least, I can move myself within the house. Three times I have attended Mass with the other parishioners in the cathedral. I am grateful to God and to you for your prayers. One of our Sisters, Sr. Valentina Kendaba has also been enrolled in the Living Rosary. She is very sick, suffering from arthritis. She requests your prayers. I have shared St. Philomena oil with her and others within the institution and some religious in the villages who have different health problems. I am really happy to share my joy with you. Though not as active in the apostolate as I used to be, I am getting more people to teach about the devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary and St. Philomena. If anything, my bedroom has been graced. St. Philomena is attracting her people. Thanks a lot for your support. Keep praying for me, if it be God’s Will, I regain my health for the good of His Kingdom. As I had requested, please send me more copies of the Dedicated Decades so that people know more about our Wonder-Worker. Our girls in the school are keen to know more about her. Though I am not able to go there, if there is enough literature and copies of her life history, one of our Sisters, a staff member can help them. I am sorry to keep tiring or disturbing you, but I want our Wonder-Worker Saint and Our Blessed Mother Mary known. In addition, many people would wish to have the Novena cards, if possible, and more oil and cord of St. Philomena. Hoping to hear from you and wishing you a Happy Easter Season! Dear Director, Patti Melvin, I am writing to you, today, to see if you can help with religious materials for my group of women and their families who are victims of domestic violence. We are in need of God’s blessing and we need prayer cards, Rosaries, Scapulars, Holy Water, and anything you can donate to give them hope, strength and peace. I know of the blessings and the power of the Sacramentals when one has faith, hope and love to see the light of Christ in one’s own life. Someone gave me a prayer card and it has your address. What a blessing! I work with a group from church to help woman of domestic violence and so many children. They need Rosaries and leaflets on how to learn and pray the Rosary, so in the future they can be strong in their faith and motivated to do good in life for themselves and for their neighbors. Puerto Rico is going through hard time a lot like other Spanish countries: no job, no education no hope. I believe in God and when you have faith, hope will follow and the strength will come along. This is the key for a better life. Praying the Rosary is very powerful and I know God will hear those who pray, those who do good and help others in need. Please help me to help those in need of God with prayer cards to Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother, prayers to Saints and spiritual literatures. EVERYTHING MUST BE IN SPANISH ONLY. Please lend a helping hand to my people who are on the brink of despair and desperately looking for hope. What a blessing to have prayer cards and to wear a Rosary around your neck giving you the protection of Our Blessed Mother! I trust in God and this community so very much needs God. The rest of their needs will follow. Faith is what makes a person survive. God bless you! Kaly Puerto Rico |

Dear Mother Patti, Another testimony. One of our Universal Living Rosary Association (ULRA) members came to tell me this morning of a testimony of the wonderful work of St. Philomena. She said that she has one of her family members who traveled to France but had a hard time there for more than two Years now. She had series of problems; even some times she was put in prison. One day she called this member here in Cameroon to ask for her advice concerning her difficult situation in France. Our member whose name is Pauline, told her to go and look a Priest in France, when she contacted a Priest; this Priest introduced her to St. Philomena. Thereafter, she bought St. Philomena's Novena booklet and began the prayers. Few Weeks later, she was offered a lucrative job which helped her solved her numerous problems in France. The lady today has a house in France. She called our member back home to encourage her to be more devoted to St. Philomena more than ever, confirming that to her aunt that St. Philomena is a wonder worker of our time. Madam Pauline is a leader of one of our St. Philomena’s prayer groups in the Archdiocese of Yaounde. Beside, I received another invitation to visit a Parish. I pray to have the MEANS to visit the schools and Parishes that will need our attention during this May, Month dedicated to Our Lady. Ave Maria! Paul E. Many thanks for the kind sentiments and prayerful wishes you expressed in the email. Whenever you have the time please visit my diocese and speak to our people about the rosary. You have my support and blessings. My desire is to build a shrine of Our Lady in every parish here and to create a Diocesan Shrine where the entire diocese does a pilgrimage every year. The diocesan shrine will have the name 'Our Lady of Africa'. I will discuss the details with you and James later. Thanks for your willingness to help spread the beauty of Mama Mary in the Diocese of Gbarnga. May God richly bless you. In Jesus and Mary, Bishop Tony Borwah Catholic Diocese of Gbarnga Liberia |
