Tuesday, July 28, 2009Dear Mother Patti,Greetings from all of us here! A few hours ago, I went and collected 2 boxes from the UPS. The director of customs here at the UPS office is now a practicing Catholic, thanks to St. Philomena, he told me. Remember that I told you that he blessed his marriage some Months ago. Now, the family is more prayerful than ever. He told me this afternoon, that the favors he received from God since he began using our prayer books and other material is endless. Again, he said that soon after his marriage, he was nominated by his ¨Parish Priest a Catechist. His Parish is St. Mark, Biyem Assi, Yaounde, Cameroon. Meanwhile, I sent today 17 lists of 30 names including 15 other names. Also, a copy of a reply to a letter you sent to our office. Hope they arrive soon. Mom, we are really praying that St. Philomena assist us in all our needs. The prayer will continue, since official Novena in honor of St. Philomena's Feast Day begins on July 31. For me, I make sure I rise up every 3:00 a.m. to say my prayers asking God to assist our Headquarters in all its many needs. Wishing you sound health and wisdom. Paul E.Ekpe Cameroon Africa |
Dear Mrs. Patti, I don't know if you received my previous e-mail but I wanted to write again to let you know we will be having our novena of masses beginning August 2nd. A novena mass will be offered Monday - Friday at 6pm including August the 10th. We are going to try and arrange a Solemn High Mass for the evening of the 10th. On the 11th mass will be offered at the Shrine at 8am and at Mater Dolorosa Church in Plaucheville at 6pm. I hope you all will be able to come. I know it is quite a trip. Let me know and be assured of my prayers. Fr. Chad Plaucheville Louisiana United States The Sunday Mass at 11:30 will be according to the 1962 missal. We are planning to have a solemn High Mass on Monday, the 10th, at 6pm if I can muster enough help. We had a very nice Solemn High to close out the year of St. Paul. The mass at the Shrine on Tuesday morning, the 11th, at 8am will be offered according to the old missal as well. I realize the difficulty in trying to get away. Know that all of you will be in my prayers during the novena and at all the masses. I hope that you can add pictures of our little shrine to the website alongside the Wisconsin Shrine. I believe I was able to send you photos of the marble work surrounding the statue. We have the angel sculptures in place on the side walls. All that is left to finish is the floor and the landscaping. Father Partain Plaucheville Louisiana United States |

Wednesday, July 22, 2009Dear Mother Patti Melvin,Greetings from Sankera, Nigeria. I write to acknowledge the receipt of your second large consignment to me by post. I got the packet which contained rosaries, scapulars, books of blessings, booklets and leaflets intact on the 16th of the month. It delayed in reaching me because the postal workers were on national strike. I am so much delighted. Thanks for your self giving in the service of the church. Mummy, at a time I was a bit skeptical about enrolling my students for the fear that they may not keep to the requirements, but then by reading reports of various promoters and seeing children featured, I thought it wise to enroll my students. Over 50 of them have been enrolled, the protestant ones among them are also getting interested in Catholicism. I still continue on one on one apostolate and I am getting some people. Keep us in your prayers. Our children shall be going on holiday on the 24th of the month, to be back sometime in September. Monday, July 20, 2009The Report for Mrs. Patti MelvinDear Mrs. Patti and the Benefactors of Living Rosary Association of saint Philomena. I would like to share with you about the general situation of Living Rosary in Ukraine. The main goal of Living Rosary is to involve to the people to pray the Dedicated Decades and to strive to the holiness. The Living Rosary Ukraine is working in Ukraine in the certain direction from the beginning of the Living Rosary mission in Ukraine we understand that the most important goal is to inform the people about Living Rosary this is why we updated the official web page of Living Rosary Ukraine. I asked my friend who is the owner of the internet design firm to make the investigation what do Ukrainian people look for on the web. Then I got the results which are- the Ukrainian bible to read and meditate the church calendar which can help the people to know about the saint of the day plus to read the meditations for every day. Also many people are looking on the web the addresses of the parishes in Ukraine. Also we launched the possibility to stay in touch with the members of Living Rosary and launched the social network for the communication in the way as it is done by the “Face book”. I got many requests from the members of Living Rosary that they want to share with the spirituality of Living Rosary and to learn more about spiritual life. This is why I asked the some priests who are the members of Living Rosary to moderate the social network of Living Rosary. The web page is made in such why that people will be able to stay in touch with each other and to learn the best catholic teaching and too deep their faith. The web page is like a net to welcome people to join the Living Rosary. Also we collect all the testimonies of the members of Living Rosary and put them on the page and then is launched the possibility to join the Living Rosary, to learn about saint Philomena. Also now the center is working very hard to organize the e-newspaper in order to send the fresh updated e-newspaper into Ukrainian language to all the visitors of our web page. Now the web page undertakes some corrections but for example during two weeks almost 1000 people visited our web page http://www.livingRosary.org.ua The web page is very important tool for the Ukrainian people who live in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Poland, Checz republic. They visit our site and learn about the spirituality of Living Rosary and then we enroll them and then make the connection to spread the devotion to Living Rosary in these countries. The next direction which is very important is publishing the newspaper which we every two month. It is one of the most popular newspapers in Ukraine. Now we are going to publish 11 000 copies of the newspaper. The articles are taken from “Dedicated decades” and from the teaching of Benedict XVI, the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Our members of Living Rosary receive our newspaper in the most remote parts of the Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Germany and then can learn about the Catholic teaching, how to take care of the children, to learn about the testimonies of the healing which took place within the Living Rosary Association membership, the children page and the articles how to receive the Holy Sacraments. Now we are going to pay attention to teach the members of Living Rosary and catholic to be careful and know about different religious sects which are very active in Ukraine. After so many years of the Communist regime the people are hungry for God and religion. Also we are trying to sell the “Voice of Living Rosary” in many religious stores and the Holy Places where the different people come and they learn about the Living Rosary and then they enroll to the Living Rosary. The members of Living Rosary have the possibility to read our newspaper on the internet page at http://www.livingRosary.org.ua. After the communication with the people we are going to publish the small and very cheap brochures which are: The Novena to Saint Joseph, the prayers to the Precious Blood of Jesus, the Devotion to Brown Scapular, the Devotion to Immaculate Heart of Virgin Mary, the devotion to Baby Jesus, etc. We are going to publish the books and then add some information about Living Rosary devotion inside of these books and then the people call and write us asking for the possibility of the membership of Living Rosary. This is why we are doing two very important goals which are: the spreading the devotion to Living Rosary and giving them the solid catholic devotions and teachings. Many of them live in the villages where they cannot get any of the books and literature and we want to provide them this spiritual bread which is very vital and precious. Other very important direction in which we are working is to produce the cord of saint Philomena, the brown scapulars, to distribute the oil of saint Philomena in the small bottles in Ukraine. Now the staff of Living Rosary makes the cords of saint Philomena, to bottle the oil of saint Philomena which is sent from Mrs. Patti and send the boxes with the materials around Ukraine, Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Serbia. The Living Rosary launched the hot line which is accessible from 7:00 a.m. to 24:00 p.m. can reach the center of Living Rosary and to receive any information and provide the shipment address where the Living Rosary can send all the materials. Recently after so many requests of the people the Living Rosary launched the production of the Brown Scapulars in Ukraine. Two ladies who devoted themselves to serving Lord are making the Brown Scapulars into Ukrainian language for many people who need desperately the Brown Scapulars here in Ukraine. We try to publish the books about the Brown Scapular and now are trying to provide them the possibility to wear the Brown Scapulars – we are only one in Ukraine who are making the Brown Scapulars, cords of saint Philomena and bottle the oil of saint Philomena. If Mrs. Patti gives me the order the Center of Living Rosary is ready to produce the Brown Scapulars for all the members of Living Rosary around the globe. Every month the center of Living Rosary sends almost 500 boxes and 800 letters to many members and local leaders of Living Rosary. Every month the number of the letters and boxes, requests are growing very fast and the staff of Living Rosary is working more actively to provide the possibilities for every soul to join the Living Rosary. At the present moment the staff of Living Rosary Ukraine is working every day from 9:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. The visitors come to the center almost every day but most of the communication is taking place via regular mail, e-mail, phone, fax, web page. Also from time to time the center of Living Rosary organizes the retreat for the members of Living Rosary and visits the parishes where the parishioners ask the Center of Living Rosary to launch the prayer groups at the parishes. The struggles Dear Benefactors of Living Rosary Ukraine is undertake the transformation from Communist society into Capitalist society and more people are becoming more materialistic and willing to worship money and success. This is why the Living Rosary is trying to convert the people from money and success to God and Virgin Mary. Also now the center of Living Rosary is going to hire the internet specialist which is going to keep the web page and to be responsible for the maintaining of the computers and printers, scanner and other machines which give us the possibility to keep working. The most difficult struggles which the Living Rosary center is undertaking is that we need to rent the apartment which is owned by the man who has its own business and the costs of the rent is going up because in Ukraine the price of the gas which is taking from Russia is going up every year. The economical situation in Ukraine is very difficult but thanks to God that the center of Living Rosary from USA is supporting us who is make possible to continue the mission of Living Rosary in Ukraine and other Eastern countries. Now the center of Living Rosary is going to hire some people who are making the translations from English into Russian language. The costs of the translations are high but we want to expand our mission in Russia and Eastern part of Ukraine where most of the people speak Russian language and it will give us the possibility to preach about Living Rosary and enroll more people to Living Rosary. Also the center of Living Rosary is going to open up the Russian version of the official web page http://www.livingRosary.org.ua I and the staff, members of Living Rosary Association from Ukraine want to thank you dear Benefactors of Living Rosary from USA for your care and support. We pray for you very hard and thank you very much. Please believe that without you and your support everything which we can do it will not be possible. Thank you very much and May God bless you. July - dedicated to the Most Precious Blood It was all miracle of St Philomena! First of all I got a box this morning with rosaries, cards, oils, booklets, Mary and priestly ministry a wonderful book etc! Bravo mum! We appreciate all! Viva! Now the miracle of St. Philomena about the thieves’ robbers! It was in the new parish not in the Claretiano house with field but in the parish of St Joseph I am just few weeks old! Thanks to god my two rooms at the brothers of charity is still left for me! On the evening after prayer and adoration in the parish, I left to the brothers of the charity and there I also exposed the Blessed Sacrament and we did adoration! I did not go back to the parish as if I know I could have met my death but the voice of Immaculata and St Philomena told me not to go back! At mid night in the parish I left my cook and her daughter and the robbers broke the house and said that they are looking for Fr. Patrick and new car and money and I am sure they were informed that I had dollars.... Any way I was not there...miracle...they were about 20 boys... With guns and instruments to kill...they removed all the small coins money and the little Sunday collections from the poor parish that I left in my room, they took the parish mobile phone, our ULRA canon camera oh!!! I had in it new photos...oh bad!! You have to send me a good digital canon camera!they removed many of st philomena shirts and all money found in the house and left me a message that i should keep money for them that they will come back again....if not they will kill me! Now I am putting alarms, security man etc but the parish is too poor! All in all Immaculata and Santa Philomena saved me from that night tragedy we thank god! May while I am staying in the brothers of charity house and I go to parish morning and come back evenings! Thanks for your prayers! Viva Patti Forward ever back ward never! Ave Maria Fr. Patrick Mary Filomena Congo |
Dear Patti, We in Sudan diocese of Yei pray for you so much because the decade of the Rosary is lifting us up. We thank you for the love; now in Sept it will be exactly half a year since Emma left us; surely he should come back by then because we need him more than anybody on earth; the other day we heard praise for ULRA by the bishop of Wau; that you are trying to reach the grassroots of a people who have lived the entire lives in War. We pray for you. We continue pray, we also pray for Emma; we understand he is still in Rwanda; or did he return to Uganda? Our prayers fly to you each minute. |

Dear Mother Patti, Greetings from all of us here. I'm glad to send you some photos of our activities on the co-memo ration of the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel which took place yesterday Saturday July 18, 2009, since July 16, was a working day, at the Formation Center of the Carmelite Fathers, Yaounde. The day which was baptised "The Day of Scapular" started with a short talk delivered by Rev. Brother Jerome, a Carmelite brother. His talk centered on "Church as a family" reminded all present that everyone baptized Christians has a duty to evangelize, everyone according to his own ability and talent. He told members of the Living Rosary that we have a unique role to bring all peoples to Jesus through the recitation of the Holy Rosary. Again, the Living Rosary is an Apostolate in nature; therefore, every member should through the activities of the ULRA. Take an active part in the Church's work of crushing the head of serpent and advising the Reign of Christ. He ended. This was followed by the Holy Mass in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Leger Marie along with 2 other Priests and one deacon together with Carmelite brothers at the formation center. During the Mass, Fr. Leger Marie reminded 28 members of the ULRA. Who were to be invested with the Scapular that the Scapular since its origin through St. Simon Stock by Our Lady helps us to confine all our confidence and trust on Our Blessed Mother just as the Carmelites had done since the Apparition of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in 1251. He went on to say that if we wear the Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we should strive to imitate the virtues of Our Lady herself so as to benefit from the promises of the Scapular. He told us that our late Pope John Paul 11 was wearing his Scapular during an attempt on his life. This part of the miracles of the Scapular he said. In conclusion, he called all members to do all they could to bring Mary to the World by spreading the Living Rosary thereby brings the Reign of Jesus Christ. On the other hand, I collected a box last Monday at UPS. It consists of Crucifixes, latest edition of Dedicated Decades magazines, Oil, Rosaries etc... In fact, the Crucifixes will be helpful in our School enrollment crusade this coming School Year, 2009. I wish to thank you so much mom, for including our photos. I will send a copy to the director of the School in which the photos were taken. And I tell you they will be delighted and this will create more confidence between us and the Archdiocesan Secretariat of education and even the School management. Meanwhile, Dr. Simon Tatah of the University of Yaounde came to our center to tell me that he was promoted, thanks to the intercession of our Princess St. Philomena. He said that the blessings have been much that he does not know how to thank God for so such graces God had bestowed upon him and his family since he joined the ULRA. He promised to write to you and to send some lists to us hence he collected some materials. Mom, I hope to leave Yaounde to Mornovia, Liberia on Friday July 24, 2009.There is no direct flight from Yaounde to Mornvia. I'll make a stop-over in Lagos, Nigeria since there is only a direct flight from Lagos to Monrovia. The cost as I told you still stands at $1,500:00.I pray to Our Lady and her daughter, St.Philomena to provide us with the financial means. Rev. Sr. Mary Laurene told me that the whole population is waiting. Rev. Sr. Mary Laurene shall leave Liberia to the States on Sunday July 26, 2009.I told her to visit our Headquarter in Texas. I'm attaching more photos on our activities yesterday on the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel which took place July 16th. Thanks for your patience! Ave.Maria! Saturday, July 18, 2009Dear Patti,In early March, my two, 17-month-old twins had a horrible reaction to a medication. They broke out in a severe rash all over their bodies and their joints became so swollen their skin was cracking. The doctors rarely see a reaction to that degree, especially in twins. We were extremely frightened and worried. We applied the holy oil of St. Philomena and were amazed at their improvement the next morning. They were soon back to normal within five days! Then, last week they were not feeling well. They had a horrible cough and they were not sleeping because of the coughing. That night I blessed them with holy water. Then I placed some of the blessed oil on their chests and I told them to kiss the blessed picture of St. Philomena's shrine. I told them that St. Philomena was there for them and she would make them feel better. That night they slept the whole night through and they felt better the next day. It is just so amazing! That is the second time I have done that when they were sick. Both times they felt better the next day. I have the statue of St. Philomena I keep in their room and I have the blessed picture of her shrine leaned up against the statue. That way she is always with them. Amber B. Indiana United States |

Friday, July 17, 2009Dear Patti,Very sorry for the delay....our machines here went visiting their in-laws...unending entertainment, and therefore time of return unsure.....Gods Peace Be with you. Thank you for the money and also for the two boxes...they took too long to reach me, simply because they wanted tax clearance of $60 equivalent. Our couriers, the U.P.S. tell me the new trend may have to stay from now on. Really all the DEDICATED DECADES you churn out are loaded with fresh and illuminating information for our souls...this summer edition is such a one....I itch to see some of the articles with my ATESO members....Please convey our congratulation to Sr. Bohdonna for clocking 90...May Our Loving Savior add on more and more years especially to fulfill her maxim......ALWAYS DO OUR TEMPORAL WORK WITH, OUR ETERNAL END IN VIEW. We thank her for such enlighten. In what measure can we thank The TAN PUBLISHER for his great heart.....donating loads of books as tall as our Director and a million times as broad.......I am Confident Our Loving Mother will reward them generously....His earlier gifts of books have done a lot...for instance the little WONDERS OF THE MASS tuned one member to attend Daily Mass...He daily passes by the LIVING Rosary CENTRE either to consume one more book or to return the one he had borrowed....Send our humble thanks to TAN and ask him which bookshop in Uganda would sell their books???? My prayers for you Patti, your dear family and all the members of the Living Rosary... Lawrence Esiangu Living Rosary Centre Kumi Uganda East Africa |
Dearest Mamma Patti, I wish for you and your dear family and all our benefactors and members a holy feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It is now an important feast here in Lebanon, thanks be to God. We used all the scapulars we have here and we wait for other boxes of the scapulars. The demand is big here of the people and the new members to have the garment of grace and the protection of Our Lady in this life and in the other. They trust in Her intercession and in Her motherly love. I prepare new photos to the August month. I prepare the names of the members in the Scapular Brown and the Universal Living Rosary Association of St. Philomena. I send you my love, gratitude and love. Thursday, July 16, 2009My dear ULRA,Greetings of Peace and Joy from Myanmar! I am very happy to acknowledge the Holy Rosaries you sent us recently. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, concern, prayers and kind assistance. I always distribute the Rosaries to the people around us. I also encourage them to include the donors and makers of the Rosaries in their prayers. I was enrolled in the Living Rosary on 8th December 1998 and, from that time on, I say my daily Decade, Rosary No. 4038, pondering on the Mystery, Crowning with Thorns. That Mystery is very proper to my life because I had a stroke in 2004, kidney transplant in 2006, diabetes in 2007 and cataract in my eyes in 2008. Although I have a series of physical ailments in my life, with the grace of God and Our Blessed Mother’s help, I can endure my daily sufferings. Please pray for our people and for peace in the world. Let us be united in our Blessed Mother for the conversion of sinners. With love and prayerful thanks, Fr. Raphael Kyaw San Myanmar Please click here to view the letter >>> |

Dear Patti, As we celebrate the Feast of the Blessed Trinity, in a very special way, we remember you, your family and all the members of the ULRA in our Mass and prayers. The students are very happy and proudly wear the medal and Rosary around their neck. I also gave their parents the medals and Rosaries and they are very grateful. Please send us more Sacramentals and pamphlets on how to pray the Rosary in Castellano/English. Our Living Rosary members are also members of the Mission Continental. Soon they will be sent to visit families and teach them Catechism and how to pray the Rosary. We also have a group of Pastoral Infantil - children from Grades III to VI and we teach them Catechism and how to pray the Rosary with devotion. Wednesday, July 15, 2009Dear Director Patti,AVE MARIA! I give thanks to God for the many beautiful things I received from you. They will surely touch the hearts of many! Just this morning, I send names enrolled in the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena with 90 new members. I am glad to tell you that a poor mother, Marisa Cordita enrolled in Universal Living Rosary # 470519 (Agony in the garden) was diagnosed with a cyst on her breast. She fervently prayed through the intercession of St. Philomena. Miraculously the cyst disappeared! My 10 yr old nephew, Aldwin Louis Intas enrolled in the Universal Living Rosary # 470503 (The Presentation of Jesus in the temple) has a mild leukemia. It's more than a year now that he never had a pain in his joints since he wears the chord and uses the Holy Oil of the little princess. The Holy Oil of St. Philomena indeed, is truly a source of healing! With my grateful heart I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you all with His comforting love for all the wonderful things you made for all of us. Tuesday, July 14, 2009Dear Brothers & Sisters,Warm & Prayerful Greetings. The Feast of St. Philomena, Patroness of Living Rosary and Children of Mary falls on August 11th. The novena starts on August 2nd. Please start the novena to St. Philomena for her intercession towards our spiritual and temporal needs from 2nd August. We are having Holy Mass on August 9th Sunday at 11.00 a.m. at St. Jude’s Church, Vanuvampet, and Medavakkam Main Road in honor of St. Philomena and St, John Maria Vianney Patron of Parish Priests. Please attend without fail with all your members Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI declared THE YEAR FOR PRIESTS for honoring St. John Maria Vianney (the Cure of Ars) from June 19, 2009 to June 19, 2010, as a World Day of prayer for sanctification of Priests. As you know, after every day’s Holy Mass Prayer for Priests are recited in all our Churches in Tamilnadu. The Universal Living Rosary Association has a providential connection to St. John Maria Vianney. He was a dear friend of Living Rosary Foundress Ven. Pauline Marie Jaricot. Ven. Pauline Maria Jaricot the Living Rosary Foundress shared her story of miraculous cure by St. Philomena. She also presented Relics (1st class) of St. Philomena to St. John Maria Vianney obtained from St. Philomena Shrine, Mugnano, Italy. She prophetically told St. John Maria Vianney, “Have full confidence in this great Saint Philomena; she will obtain for you all that you wish”. St. John Maria Vianney did as told by Ven. Pauline & became one of the greatest devotees and promoters of St. Philomena. The ULRA has decided to support the YEAR OF PRIESTS and observe 40 days of prayers and fasting for the sanctification of Priests all over the world. For people and Priests who pray for Priests, Holy Father has granted Plenary Indulgences. We can gain Plenary Indulgences on 1ST Thursday of the month and other established days according to the Church. The Indulgencies can be gained after the people cleanse themselves for their sins through Sacramental Confession and pray for the intentions of our Holy Father the Pope. Details of observance of fasting and prayers for Priests will be announced on 9th August during the celebration in honor of St. Philomena and St. John Maria Vianney. The Holy Mass on 9th of August will be concelebrated at 11.00 AM at St. Jude’s Church by Rev. Fr. Ignatius Prasad, Universal Living Rosary Spiritual Director and Rev. Fr. My dear fellow, I received the parcel with the prayers, the Rosary, the St Philomena's oil and rope and other beautiful prayers. It is a magnificent gift. Thank you very much. Saint Philomena, pray for us. Jean-Louis Picoche Saint Brevin Les Pins France |
Saturday, July 11, 2009Dear Patti Melvin,I cannot thank you enough for the parcel of pamphlets, books, medals and rosaries....and the oils. All of this has come just at the right time, as I endure a certain persecution from inside and outside the Parish, just a few troublemakers being used by the enemy in the context of a very "liberal" ecclesiastical situation in South Africa. As soon as I can, I intend to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for your intentions, and I shall also be offering a Mass for your co-worker, the good Richard Donley Fox. Please pray for me and our Parish too as I struggle to bring about authentic renewal of Catholic life in the face of every persecution and obstacle. Don Francesco of Mugnano who fetched the relics is an inspiration. Sincerely, in JMJ, fr. Gregory South Africa |

Please do continue to pray for us and the Church in China. These days I often go to China..........we are also assisting in some of the leper colonies. Your help and support is very much appreciated. If you wish to make any donations to help the lepers or any other projects in China you may send the donation to the China account. Dear Mum Patti Melvin, Greetings from Sankera, Benue State. I am writing to acknowledge the receipt of the second parcel with gratitude and to share some news with you. As I did say in one of my mails, I have been making some contacts to enable me carry out this spiritual apostolate. In the pictures I am sending, Mrs. Shimenenge Atime, is one of the lecturers at our state university doing her doctorate. She is a devoted catholic and she has accepted to become a Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena (ULRA) promoter. Yesterday, being 9th of July, 2009, Donald and Paul came to the school early in the morning while I was having Mass with my students and waited for me. When they met with me they informed me that they had heard of the message and came to make some enquiries. After some explanations they accepted to become ULRA promoters and we accepted that from time to time, they will be coming to the college for some spiritual exercises together with the new enrolled members and they were so pleased. I might have been silent, but I am trying my little best to do the work. I will be forwarding my first list of enrolled members before the end of next week. With prayerful wishes, Fr. Kuha INDYER, CSSp Holy Ghost College, Sankera, Benue State, Nigeria |

Thursday, July 9, 2009Dearest PattiIt has been so long since we heard from each other. You are always in my prayers as I recite the Holy Rosary and Saint Philomena's prayers. As I hinted you, from Eritrea I was temporarily reassigned to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. And not too long thereafter, by mid December 2008 my posting came through of which my next duty station was to be SUDAN! On my arrival in Khartoum, Sudan, I was baffled to see what wars can do to nations! Well I am now in Juba, Southern Sudan. We have mighty churches here and marvelous people of God! Sunday is the most colorful day. Choirs are singing like little angels of heaven. It has now been confirmed that this will for now be my duty station, at least up to next year and beyond depending on the situation on ground. My dear Patti, I am once again coming to you, requesting for your support of spiritual materials for the villagers, orphanage homes, IDPs (Internally Displaced People Camps) hospitals, seminaries/convents. Most of people here, including the young little children speak, read and write English. This is therefore an advantage on our part to spread Mother Mary's Rosaries, Scapulars, medals and the Little Philomena and the Oil of Saint Philomena and her prayer cards. I therefore, send this message, praying that Mother Mary will give you a means and fortitude to reach her children here in the Southern Sudan. May He who gave you this desired Heaven while on this earth continue adding grease on your elbows. My prayers to you all. Theresia Juba Southern Sudan |
Dear Sr. Patti, I am happy to note to you that the promoters meeting went on well. There were about 65 promoters. Bro. Joseph from India was also present. Now I have about 50 new lists, i.e., 750 new members. Now I need new Rosary numbers. Pl. send immediately. I need St. Philomena pictures before the feast. The photos will follow. Yours in Iesu et Maria, Rev. Fr. A. Uthayadas Colombo Sri Lanka |
Dear Director Patti, AVE MARIA! With grateful heart I thank you for the forex box I received yesterday...I am inspired by your thoughtfulness. I can feel your desire to touch many souls. I thank God for the many precious things inside...I thank everyone who patiently made them all...May these Rosaries, Scapulars, books, etc will truly become a bridge leading everyone back to God...May God bless all your efforts and generosity. I am asking my friends to help us call everyone to stay closer to God by praying. Today I receive a lot of names who wanted to pray the decade. It is already more than one thousand. I will inform you soon when I bring them to the postal office. Please send me UNIVERSAL Rosary # through e-mail. Thank you so much...May God bless us all! In Christ, Joseph and Mary, Sr. Corazon |
Wednesday, July 8, 2009Dear and Loving Sr. Patti,This evening I returned back to Chennai. On 6th he grouped all Promoters and formed coordination group and an executive to assist him. He has taken lots of trouble in printing all about the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena (ULRA) mission in three languages in a very shorter period. I am satisfied and relieved my anxiety on the future of ULRA in Sri Lanka. Yesterday we went round meeting all Senior Priests and Archbishop Oswal Gomis (he is retiring) and a new Archbishop has been announced and he will assume the Office of the Archiepiscopate the first week of August. Fr. Andrew is associating with many priests and religious including one old Sister in Jaffna who has regular correspondence with you. She too called me up and I requested to associate and cooperate with Fr. Andrew for promotion of ULRA around Jaffna. I carried with me 10 - 6" statues and 3 one foot statues of St. Philomena Shirts, 300 stitched Scapulars, and 1,000 Scapular materials for sewing in Sri Lanka with the help of members, Secret of Rosary in Tamil, Ven. Pauline Jaricot’s booklets. Etc. Regarding banner on St. John M. Vianney with St. Philomena we don't have nice multicolor picture. Can share any nice picture? I planned to print one that you have in the website Ven. Pauline, St. Philomena and St. J. M. Vianney. Any suitable wording in the banner? Please suggest. I have no printed lots of literatures and emptied the cash in hands for Statues and also for banners. Thanks for your prayers. I was not brisk while I was in Sri Lanka though Fr. Andrew's mother looked after me in an excellent manner. With love and prayers KJROCHE Dehiwela Sri Lanka |
Monday, July 6, 2009Dear Patti,It is Francis greeting you from here in Goma, thank you very much for boxes of Miraculous Medals, we see a lot and the big picture you sent us and Holy Oil of Saint Philomena. We are so thankful from bottom of our hearts for the suffering people that are forgotten by all others except you and Emma and benefactors. This is what happened with boxes: Pierre went from here in the thick forest to meet Emma on boarder as he done last year, then Emma came not, on the feast of St. John Baptist birth, Emma came not because the boxes never came to him to in time as he expect! Good that he phoned and told that the boxes see them on the same day of 24th, then because Pierre has no communication with Emma he wait for another day near the border, the same night there fighting between rebels and Congo forces near where he is, he hide in a slum area, and for us in the suburb of Goma. We fear so much and pray that Emma arrive now to give us medals! When Emma got the boxes jumped on mini bus to Congo/Rwanda boarder for night stay and morning Fri. 26 he cross boarder under difficulty of bribe demand by Congo soldiers that now control the border from rebels taken at end of last year! Eventually Emma met Pierre and were happy, again Pierre and Emma hug and flowing tears, he give him the two boxes and $400 to help him board to us here, We all waited for Pierre and he arrived here on Sat. 27 June and we all happy for the boxes and your greet from Emma! Oh! Within the end of the day, one box was finished, people want to protect from cannibalism by Mai-Mai and rape, all people with non-catholic the cry for the medals and we gave oils but they not enough due to big people demand, some due to demand take a drop of oil and mix it with water and keep it for use for some time! Now all are finished, even my small oil in the small bottle was stolen away from me and now with nothing. However, we see some change in behavior of cannibalism; we have not heard a case amongst the people we gave since gave away medals, we pray for you many still need. There is a group of women that had walk for five days took suicide attempt, towards us for medals and oil, find when we have nothing, one collapse with heart attack; sorry I have nothing I told them. Tell you Patti, you have save us, continue do it we pray you we your child! Everyone without still look you and pray hopefully for a protection sacramental is. Francis Congo |

Oh! allow to hears us because you are in prayers of us and we know that you are soon reach us with medals, we find it now our life line as you put it to us, we are finding hope in Mother Mary. Let me tells you several things that came with medals: Muslims are now steal them from us to take then to their children, this is great because we see some that have been harsh on us Christians , are changing ways of kill us by using milder ways, in past they use machetes and arrows, some Muslims have become to loves us, be assure that what we have here now is the thief of medals, so we do kindly pray you to send us as you promise, I write Emma the other day but not yet reply. Secondly we so happy that many are protect with oil and medals, women rape goes down because the Mother Mary chase away the rebels that claim fight for us and the janjaweed of Northern Sudan who kill and rape women after rape! Dear Mrs. Patti Melvin, Greetings to you from South Africa. I hope that you are doing very well. So far I am keeping alright. Thank you very much I have received the letter and the Religious Material (Parcel) which you have send to me. I have shared to our high school students here at Inkamana Abbey, Brothers, Sisters and some of the religious material I have given to the women of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and legion of Mary. People are thanking you so much for sending us this precious gift. I want to let you know that we are praying for you all at St .Philomena Center. I will send you a photo very soon so that I can show you the people whom I am working together to promote the Message of Our Lady. The numbers of people who have joining the legion of Virgin Mary are increasing in numbers so far. This year we have got many boys and girls who are going to receive the first Holy Communion. We are planning to introduce and promoter the message of our lady in other parishes in our diocese. To do these we need more prayer books, rosaries etc. Many people enjoy so much to pray the Rosary; it is one of the essays prayers to recite by heart. It could be much better at least if you can manage to send to me the Religious material twice a year because they are many people who need it. We are trying our level best to teach our High School Students how to pray well the Rosary and to meditate the mystery.Lastly, Iam felling sorry for telling me that you have lost one of your member at St. Filomena Center. May her soul rest in peace. We willremeber her in our prayer. We will also pray for you. May the good lord bless you always? Best Regards, Bro. Friday, July 3, 2009Dearest Patti,I’ll write longer next opportunity, I’m intoxicated with joy! A sign of roses I asked our Lord this morning for a soul who died last night, wow, I get a shower of living rosaries! From The Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena (ULRA) in America, Our Lord´s mysterious ways. How beautiful too, all the colorful ribbons on the miraculous medals, splendid to attract the youngsters to Our Lady. Oh the posters, phew they will look great on bare walls in some country chapels. And the Blessed oil, I´ll put to use this afternoon in the country chapel of St Andrew and will include you and all in the consecration. Must dash, mass at 3.30pm, I think you are one hour behind, Uruguay. Great to see the Cure dÁrs, I hope you have large posters of him!! Good reminder to priests to attend to the sacrament of Confession, instead of adoration of the computer!! Love and God Bless. I presume in the color pictures with no name, one of the ladies is you! Should I conserve for your future beatification? Or does humility deny such reward! My love and Blessing, on the first Friday Fr. Michael+ Uruguay |
Dear Mother Patti, How are you? Hope you’re ok. I was away for a month when my mother informed me of the two forex boxes she received. Please Mother, if you could make some follow up’s regarding the approbation of ULRA in the different parishes in the city. I am asking a little help from you mother of some things needed in establishing a little office in our house. Some tarpaulin of Mama Mary and St. Philomena. Dear Patti, Greetings and love from Malawi, Africa! Yesterday I had a great and wonderful Prayer Meeting with my people in my Parish, about Saint Philomena. We do this every week on Thursday. Many people have a great quest for the holy oils because, as I always say, they have a curative effect on the people. Please, in your next boxes, send more oils and 1 Decade Rosaries, if available. People's lives in all my Parish and Diocese have greatly changed. Ave Maria! Rev. Fr Remigius Lazarus KASAWA, DP St. Peter Claver Catholic Parish Malawi C. Africa |
Wednesday, July 1, 2009Salutations:Dear fellow priests, men and women Religious, and all the Beloved Lay Faith in the Universal Living Rosary Association of Saint Philomena (ULRA). As we have come to the close of the Pauline Year, and consequently have been drawn into the Year for Priests, after the person of St. John Vianney, l would like to share with you some insights, with regard to the ministry of a priest. To begin with, who was St. John Mary Vianney? His Life and Vocation: He was a priest born at Lyon, France; in the year 1786. He was not quick at study and had great difficulty in being accepted for ordination. After overcoming tremendous difficulties, he was finally ordained priest. He was given charge of the parish of Ars in the Diocese of Belley and by his forthright preaching, personal mortification, prayer and charity, renewed it and increased it in a wonderful way. His help to those who came to the sacrament of confession was renowned, and people flocked to him from all sides to obtain his advice. He died in the year 1859. His feast day is celebrated on 4th August. Sublime Dignity of a Priest and the Need for Him to Be Closer to His Flock: As we journey on through the year, focusing our attention on the life of St. John Mary Vianney, we cannot avoid looking at the sublime dignity of a priest, his duty and mission. Intelligence alone is not what matters. As one who draws people to God, a priest needs to be closer to his people. He must be a man of zeal and interested in his work, doing it for the sake of God. Just as Our Lady was close to Christ all the time (Wedding in Cana: Jn 2, 1-10; at Christ’s death on the Cross: Mtt 27, 55-56). A priest needs to be conscious of the feelings and presence of his faithful. During this Year of the priest, we shall see and recognize Christ’s threefold character, as a priest, king and teacher. As a Priest, Christ sacrificed His life for His people. He fed them in various ways (Jn 6, 1-15). He provided drink to the thirsty. He cured those suffering from various ailments (Jn 5, 1-18). Yet as a King or/and Ruler, He rebuked His enemies strongly, without dehumanizing, hurting/injuring them. This is seen in the Sending out from the Temple, of those who were plying their trade. He shows His authority as the Son of Man (Jn 5,19-29). The kings and the rulers of this world only lord it over their subjects/juniors, burdening them with loads they cannot shoulder themselves, as seen when the Apostles asked the Lord, “Who was the greatest among them.” In our everyday dealings with people, we want to be recognized, and have our glory felt! The Lord admonishes us that, “it should not be the case amongst you, rather let the older be the servant of all,” or in Latin, “sic nec vos.” Humility and service is required on our part! Then at the end of the world, God will reward us. As priests, we ought to teach Christ’s Flock those values that help put everyday life in order. Every one of us has a moral duty to help and guide the less privileged and the mentally disadvantaged. A Word of Encouragement to All Members of ULRA: Needless to say, dear Brothers and Sisters, your commendable job, as witnessed in your selfless holy services at ULRA, worldwide, by your teaching through the Holy Rosary and various literature on the Rosary, Our Lady and St Philomena, brings a great impact on the numerous people of God. The Scapulars, the Medals and the Holy Oils bring security, strength and cure to many, if not all, who use them more profoundly. Personally, during my weekly Gatherings with the Philomena devotees, in my parish, diocese or/and country, I already see the love and face of Christ radiate among the members. I can, thus therefore, assure all the devotees at ULRA, never to lose track of their sublime services to the world. Never flag in zeal. Always be aglow with the Holy Spirit! Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart intercedes for us all to our Lord, as we journey on in this Valley of tears, during this holy Year for Priests, with St John Mary Vianney as our model. Let the zeal which this Saint had in promoting our Lord’s salvific corporal and spiritual works, as noticed in his forthright preaching, also be inspired in all of us, so we can preach our Lord, through our various devotions! Ave Maria! Rev. Fr Remigius Lazarus KASAWA,DP St Peter Claver Catholic Parish Malawi C. Africa |
